Two young women received The Soroptimist of Richmond Scholarship. Marisol Contreras is shown here with Janis McNair, chair of the Fellowship and Foundation Committee, and President Pam Fisk. Marisol is graduating from Middle College High School and will enter UC Davis in the fall. Our other scholarship winner, Komal Kumar, was unable to attend as she had a school activity at the time of our meeting. She will graduate from Hercules High School and head to Stanford. The stories of both recipients were inspiring, making them well-deserving scholarship winners. As Marisol said, she sees life as a rose growing out of the cement.
Our 78th Birthday was celebrated at our meeting on March 23, 2017! We were honored to have Soroptimist dignitaries, Founder Region Fellowship President Bobbie Enderlin, District 1 Fellowship Director and District 1 Director Elise Balgley, visit us.
For the Founder Region Conference this year, each club was to pick a member to recognize as a "Shining Star". Carla Della Zoppa was chosen for all that she does for Soroptimist International of Richmond. President Pam presented her with the award on June 8.
New member, Skye Bernard, was inducted on April 6, 2017 by Membership Chair, Carla Della Zoppa, with help from President Pam Fisk and sponsor, Mikie Sallomi. Welcome Skye!
